I'm trying to move out from living with my parents for a few years after getting out of a bad marriage. All the apartments I've looked at want my bank
account number. It seems like a huge invasion of privacy. The other times I rented I'd never been asked that. Just paycheck stubs to prove my income.

It's every place around here. They say it's to make sure you have a good amount of money to pay your rent in case you get fired and have no more steady
income.

Great. The only place I wouldn't struggle to afford I'm looking at now wants bank account # plus my auto info and plate #, and 3 non family personal
references. I don't know 3 people who are neither family nor coworkers damn it. I'm never moving out.

They'll wouldn't be able to get into your account anyway. I think they just want it so they can call the bank and make sure you do have an account with
them etc.
