I recommend going to see the movie with people who haven't read the stories. You get a layperson's perspective and it can be kinda funny. I went with a friend and after the movie she was like"I don't get it? Why were these guys fighting over that boring-ass girl?" She thought Bella was rude to her friends and didn't get why anyone would want to be around her.

The pacing was slow and the dialogue was cringeworthy at times. Taylor and the Volturi actors did the best acting job. Dakota Fanning was well- cast. Poor Rob and his pained expressions-- I don't know how he got through filming without laughing. Kristin Stewart's acting grates. All the stuttering and pauses. Her screaming in her sleep was so ridiculous and the audience laughed after the thousandth time she did it.

The audience went nuts when Jacob ripped off his shirt for the first time and every time he appeared shirtless thereafter there were appreciative comments and sounds throughout the audience.

There was some laughter at Edward's slo-mo entrances and his Blue Steel facial expressions throughout the movie. The makeup on all the vampires was horrendous. A lot of the wigs were too obvious especially on Jacob.

I think the movie converted a lot of peeps to Team Jacob because the visual evidence of his repoire with Bella works better than in the books. When you take out all the woe-is-me-Edward-is-the one-and -only language in Bella's head that makes up the book you can just see the contrast in her behavior around the two guys. The movie illustrates how she is a normal, happy functioning human being around Jacob. Bella laughs and emotes and shows some sign of life and takes an interest in a hobby. With Edward she literally does nothing and Edward does even less around her.

I think the movie could have done a better job showing just how much Jacob helped Bella. In the books she showed up on his doorstep looking inhuman and was a broken shell of herself and he pulled her through that. In the movie she wasn't anywhere near that low. She basically looked like she always does.

The best scenes were when Jasper attacked Bella, Jessica chattering to Bella outside the theater, all the werewolf scenes, and the sequence with Victoria being chased.

I'm going to agree with your review except I think everyone looked like they were going to laugh at one point. So far though I'm going to give Rob P the benefit of the doubt that I did with Channing Tatum until I see Remember Me. I just don't feel I can judge anyones acting based ont eh Twilight movies as there really is only so much you can do with the source. LOVED Aro seriously wanted to adopt him, Sheen was PERFECT and so was Dakota! As far as the SFX MILES UPON MILES of improvements, though the black lead Wolf looked horrible. The rest of the pack looked phenominal just the black one looked off and the makuep looked so much better though they've still yet to figure out that they need to go all the way down the neck instead of just mid throat with it. It looked more natural like it was airbrushed as opposed to caked on like Twilight.

Total gripes IMO Jacob could have had clothes on a little more! I was feeling like a perv The soundtrack was HORRENDOUS, it didn't fit the movie, most of the music outright sucked and it was overwhelming in some scenes.

Also I hate when people use the budget as a crutch for the special effects int he first one. Movies have been made for so much less that don't look like complete and utter ass SFX wise. The Covenant is a prime example. It was made for roughly the same budget with the same amount of no name actors and while most think the movie is crap you can't deny that the SFX were awesome so it is possible for them to not look like shit. Yes New Moon had a much larger budget and most of that expanded money went to the director, cast salaries and location shoots not SFX/CGI. The biggest differance between Twilight and New Moon. Twilight had a director so obsessed with the film/story she was too close to it to see it's flaws. New Moon had a director that could see his flaws and not be biased and actually fix them, though he still had some goofy things. The frolicking being a prim example and WAY too much lets stare at eachother longingly for 30 minutes while the audience falls asleep moments.
