BAD POINTS

- Overall Impression -

I felt that the scenes didn't flow very well. They were rushed, unpolished and disjointed. There was no score to speak of. The incidental music was too cheesy and soap opera-ish (during the Bella and Edward scenes). The soundtrack was RANDOM and unimpressive. The first movie made MUCH better use of music on all levels (score and incidental). The cinematography was unimpressive and flat. Edward's wardrobe appeared old and stale. In the first movie, he dressed fresh and young. In this one, he's dressed like an old man??? The very first outfit (when he's walking toward Bella in his first scene was nice - very similar to clothes worn in the first one). It looked like Robert was bored; his acting was flat. The Edward ghost appearances seem cheesy.

-Background-

A bit more background could have been given: e.g.show a different father/daughter scene, other than just him running into her room when she has a nightmare; explain the Voluturi a bit more - e.g. why did Carlisle end up living with them. When they "discuss" the Voluturi, Edward just blurts two brief sentences about them. They are very important to the story. Her discovery of Jacob as a werewolf could have been dealt with much better.

-Chemistry-

The most disappointing aspect of the film is Robert's performance; consequently, the chemistry between his character and Kristen's suffers throughout. I know that he's supposed to feel conflicted and burdened in this movie, but it just comes across as him being bored and tired. Better chemistry between Jacob and Bella. No tenderness between Bella and Edward.

-The Script-

Every time Edward spoke, I cringed. This was an opportunity to improve on the book and the screenwriter didn't. I know that he's completely devoted to Bella, but the dialogue was too melodramatic and cheesy. Her script for Twilight was better; Edward came across a bit more clever and alive.

-Scene Relevance-

They could have removed one of the screaming scenes. Her getting on the back of the motorcycle of some unknown dude three times her size and have him gently and quickly bring her back to the original pick-up spot was unrealistic - an unnecessary addition and it waisted valuable time. If I remember correctly from the book, isn't there an airplane scene where Alice talks about the Voluturi and their powers (???). Simply showing the outside of the plane -blatant product placement- seemed incomplete. The cafeteria scenes were flat.
