That's negative PR for the restaurant. Dumb move on their part. Just take the tip off. At least they were willing to pay for the food.

absolutely rediculous....
I cannot believe that cops are coming out for important things like a child hitting her mother and saying there is nothing they can do.... but then when they come out for someone not paying an over charged tip for crappy service, they do get arrested!!!!! wtf? |

The Pub is now being accused of having negative reviews deleted from the yelp website. I've had reviews deleted off of Yelp, as have many, many others. They do that shit all of the time even when the restaurant/store/place of business isn't popular, but claim it happens with site maintenance/purging. It's really annoying. I would have called the manager if I knew the service was poor, before they could bring out the check. |

What a shitty place. If they want to have included tips on the bill, then make sure your staff does a top-notch job otherwise you don't deserve shit all
for horrible service.

If I get crappy service, I still leave a tip: one penny. I've only done that once when the waitress passed our table for over an hour - didn't give us
silverware, never asked us for refills, and some of our food was cold. When she finally graced us with her presence, we got attitude for asking for water.
With that said, I think it's ridiculous they got arrested for refusing to pay for bad service. I give that restaurant another 3 months before they shut down 'cause of this. |

If you tip people for giving bad service they're not going to care that they suck and will continue giving shitty service.

wow thats really fucked up..
One time at applebees, the waitress was HORRIBLE. such a bitch to me and my friend that I decided she didnt earn a tip. So we left nothing. She came running out of applebees screaming WHY WE DIDNT TIP HER!! i said well you proved my point that your a bitch thats why. She didnt work there soon after that and I saw her working various other stores in the same mall. |

It always cracks me up when people do that. No matter how angry I've been at getting stiffed on a tip if I gave good service, I've never had the gall
to run out of the restaurant and yell at a guest about not tipping me. If it was a day when I knew I dropped the ball and gave bad service, I just
automatically assumed I wasn't getting tipped and left it at that.

If the gratuity is included, which is usually is on large parties, you have to pay that regardless if the service was beyond horrible

If the gratuity is included - then it's part of the bill... you HAVE to pay your bill.. lol. When I served, the cops were definitely called out a few times
from people getting pissed over the tacked on gratuity. People get crazy over that shit. Anyways...
if the service was THAT bad, you think they would have contacted a manager or just straight up left... so well, ya sorta bring that shit on yourself. |

but if then menu stated that 18% would be included, and then 22% was included, then you should be able to pay just the 18%.

I think people here are being a tad naive. Do you think the manager on duty had no clue about this BEFORE the police came? They clearly had talked to a manager
or at least he was aware of the issues. No manager would allow an employee to have a guest arrested with out some input.

Even if service isn't great, I feel like I have to tip since I'm black. It's like that scene from Crash with Ludacris and Larenz Tate. The white
servers feel like the blacks won't tip well or at all so they don't put as much effort into providing good service as they would for white customers.
So if the black person doesn't tip, then the white servers (probably not aware that it's because of the average service) think the stereotype has been
proven true.
So I tend to tip at least 10% no matter what the service is just because I don't want to reinforce the stereotype that black people are cheap. |

That happened to me and my friends once, the service was HORRIBLE and the waitress completely messed up the bill. We wrote everything out what to charge to
make it less confusing for her and she pretty much disregarded everything and charged randomly to the different credit cards.
The manager was just as bad and didn't even offer us anything after they both completely messed up (and we were pretty sure it still wasn't fully fixed in the end). |
