Actually, I should rephrase. Would you mind if after your meal, a server approached you and asked what they did wrong, or what they could have done differently
if you didn't tip them or didn't tip them well?
When I served I pretty much knew when I gave good service and when I dropped the ball. But there were a few times where I felt like I gave good service and either didn't get tipped or was tipped very poorly. I've always wanted to ask those guests if their service was all right or what they felt I did wrong or could have done differently. I never have because I was always afraid that the guest would get offended or think I was rude and report me, then I would get in trouble. But I think it's a fair question.
Assuming you're not just a cheap ass, (in which case you may have a problem with this or be offended about being put on the spot
) if a server was
genuine in asked you what they did wrong and what they could do to improve their service, would you be offended or would you actually be willing to give them
constructive criticism and/or feedback? Also, if a server were to ask you, how would you suggest they phrase the question so that it was apparent that they
truly wanted the feedback, and that they weren't just trying to call you out for not tipping?

at my old job this server got tipped like 45 cents or something. she
chased the dude down the street and gave it back to him saying he forgot his change. he was HEATED.
