I did long distance for the past 4 years. They can absolutely work if both parties are invested. I live in Texas, he lives in NY.

Yup. My boyfriend lives 5 and a half hours away. We've been together for 11 months and I think that next summer or fall he will be moving here.

I'm in one right now and even though it sucks, I think the only way it would work is if both sides were invested or committed enough to make it work.

In one now. But we went to high school together.
Long distance relationships are OK if you already know and have met the person. But if it is just someone you met on the internet and have never met them, you are setting yourself up for serious disappointment. |

I am in one right now. Illinois to Tennessee. About 7 hours. Luckily the first year of our relationship we lived together for about 10 months of it. We've
been together for 15 now and we see each other about once a month. I haven't seen him in a month though and will probably not until after or right before
Christmas. But I guess what makes it easier to go longer periods of time without seeing him is knowing that we're moving to Atlanta in January and living
together. So that really helps. That and talking/web camming on skype everyday. Like others have said though, it really helps if both parties are invested and
if you stay very verbal about what you are thinking/feeling. We both are pretty busy with studying for our board exam right now so that really helps staying
busy.
I say it's worth a shot. And 2.5 hrs isn't too bad (it could be worse). |

I never knew a matter of a couple hours was considered long distance, what is the minimum distance to be considered long distance? 1 hour? 30 minutes?

My bf and I are about an 2 hours away from each other, he's in school I work full-time. But we try to make it work because we really love one another. We
have a date weekend every month where its just the 2 of us. We webcam at night so we can see each other and we text and call. It sucks sometimes but it
isn't forever.
