Is a series tweak in the future?
by Matt Fowler
November 23, 2009 - It's not a sign of cancellation, but it is a sign of, shall we say, re-tooling. The word on the street, or at least from EW.com's Michael Ausiello, is that ABC's FlashForward has shut down their production.
This is said to be a temporary move as it comes on the heels of executive producer, and co-showrunner, Marc Guggenheim leaving the show last month. Last week's low point ratings couldn't have helped matters either. An ABC representative told Ausiello that the show's schedule was designed for breaks: "They want to maintain the high quality of the show, and this gives the writers the opportunity to do so."
Sounds like it will give the writers a chance to tighten the screws and not present such an infuriatingly dim narrative. While it's not clear how long the shut-down will last, we know that it won't be as long as the month long hiatus imposed on the V set.
