My car is old (2000 sunfire) so I don't have any ipod hookups. Is there something I can buy that will allow me to hookup my ipod and play it through my car speakers?
How do I play my ipod through my car speakers?

Does your cigarette lighter in your car still work? That's how I use mine. I only have a tape deck in my car, so I had to get something...I went to walmart
and bought the adapter that plugs into your cigarette lighter, it was around $40 or $50 I think. It works great.

An iTrip can be used as a last resort. It just uses a blank station on your radio to play your music over.

All a cigarette lighter can do is charge the ipod.

I play mine thourhg my cigarette lighter. But you have to tune it to a certain station and it plays through the radio.
It's called an IPOD FM Transmitter. Here are some from Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=ipod+car+adapter |

It plugs into my cigarette lighter to charge my iPod and docks it, then I tune into an FM station that it displays and I play it there. So, no, that's not all it can do. I think it was around $40-50. But I lost it. So I just use my iTrip (same price) from Target. It's cuter, just plugs into the bottom of my iPod and I play it on my radio. It doesn't charge or anything. |

Yeah I believe its called a Griffin iTrip. You plug the cord into your cigarette lighter, tune your stereo into whatever radio station it tells you, plug in
your ipod to that cord and it should work. I checked and its $39.99 at walmart.

HolyCannoli wrote:What you said is just an FM transmitter with an added bonus of a charger. All the plugging it in is doing is charging it, it doesn't enhance anything else. |

I play mine through an adapter through the cassette deck, and it works perfectly. Some of the am/fm adapters are so static-filled. The cassette deck thing
works much better for me!

Thanks everyone.
I looked on amazon.com and I think I'll get the Griffin iTrip Auto FM Transmitter and Auto Charger for iPod (Black). It's only $14 so if I doesn't work that well I'm not worried about it. The same exact product at Walmart is $54.88. Walmart sucks. |

JC wears Manties wrote: Yeah, I've already tried that before. I bought an ipod charger at Meijer (for some reason I thought it could actually play the music through my car speakers) but it's just a charger that hookups up into my cigarette lighter. So I've already gone that route |

With FM transmitters, it really depends on where you live and how much driving you're doing. When I had one I absolutely hated it because I was constantly
having to change stations to avoid interference. What was a perfectly clear, blank station at my house was no longer one 5 minutes into the drive. It really
becomes dangerous to use unless you stop the car every time you need to change the station.
