so my dad's live in (15 years) girlfriend's aunt passed away on Friday morning. I spoke with my dad on Friday, the "stepmom" wasn't at
home. We talked about the aunt passing away etc.....he says they will call us with arrangements etc. Well fast forward until today, I see in the paper this
morning that the funeral is this afternoon at 2:00. I already have plans and besides, I'm not close with any of their family as it is. I talk to my dad
tonight and he says, "___________ said thank you for calling about her loss" 
First of all, I talked to my dad on Friday. Gave my condolences to him then......they were supposed to call US with arrangements-which they didn't do. Who the hell says something like that anyway?? Yet another reason I despise this damn woman
ETA-I didn't make a special call to the woman and tell her how sorry I was--I told my dad over the phone when he told me. I barely know my "stepmom's" family as it is.....
