What kind of camera do you have? |

And do you like it? My dad is buying me a new camera for Christmas and I have no clue what kind I want. I currently have an 8.2MP Kodak Easy Share. I was
thinking of going for a Cannon Power Shot. I really use my camera for just taking personal pictures and concerts so something with a good flash, and good
quality and a good zoom for a sleek camera.

I have a Nikon D200, but you don't want that just for casual shooting.
Canon Power Shot is a great camera, but it just depends on how much you want/don't want to spend. |

I have a Canon 1000D and I
it. It's a DSLR and so a little more complicated for you to just point and shoot though.

As for people that keep saying Canon seriously it's all about preferance and to be perfectly honest Canon's latest line sucks. The pictures on some of the midranges look about equal to a lowend Fuji which means their processors and lens quality went WAY down! If you ope for a canon I'd look into at least last year or the year befores models. For example I had a G9 and it was easily the most awesome camera ever created. It's what's called an advanced point and shoot. Well it was killed on vacation and replaced with the canon G10 which had fewer features and took horrible pictures and the current G11 is worse. When it comes to any camera the best suggestion is simply go ina place like Best Buy or anyone else that has displays you can play with. If they want your business they'll let you take some pics with it and see how YOU like it. Someone can rec a Canon all day and you may not even like how it fits in your hands.

I mentioned in an earlier forum about loving my Canon Powershot S1100. I'm sure some of the other brands are good. Whatever you choose, make sure it uses
the a rechargeable Lithium battery and not the AA/AAA batteries. Those AA/AAA batteries drain out very quickly and make the camera much bulkier to carry.

I had a Canon PowerShot SD1000 until my cousins son broke it a couple weeks ago and I loved it! Right now I'm looking into buying the Canon PowerShot
SD1200 IS.

I would advise you to make your own decision as to whether you prefer a camera with rechargeable lithium batteries or AAs. There are upsides and downsides to
both. The main benefit with AA batteries is that you can get them pretty much anywhere and don't have to worry so much about finding yourself with no power
when you really want it. The other batteries are much smaller and last longer but they're more expensive (in some cases, pretty darn expensive), you'd
need to buy an extra to keep on hand for emergencies, and if you happen to run out of power while you're out 'n about, you're out of luck!

I have a canon powershot and it sucks the life out of my batteries! Other than that it's a decent camera.

How do you like yours? I can't find a bag that fits it that isn't rediculously a) huge b) expensive. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. |

BweeUTeful wrote:I freaking love it, a friend of mine was telling me the problems she had with hers and I haven't had any problems yet. And if it's his first camera, it's really simple to use. As for a bag, Best Buy SHOULD have one, I got one there. They had a camera starting kit, a bad, mini light and a tripod, like 20 bucks. So worth it. If you want, I can post some samples of stuff I've taken with the camera. |
