What would you do if you got remarried?

My ring is a family heirloom. I love it. It's the only jewelry I wear, as I'm generally not a fan. If I didn't have this ring, I'd have chosen
a plain platinum band. I normally don't like diamonds.

I prefer a simple band.

I want to pick it out. We went and looked and his taste was so completely different from mine so I'm glad we went and looked together. I wouldn't have
liked what he picked. I would have lived with it but I wouldn't have liked it.

My husband has really good taste so I knew he'd pick something great. I told him I wanted an Oval cut diamond and we went to a couple jewelry stores when
we were casually talking about getting married but then 4 months later he went and picked out my ring completely on his own.

My husband is all about practicality. The last ring he got me has tanzanite because "it has a longer halflife than diamonds"

Combo of #1 and #2. We ended up going to look at rings for fun, but ended up finding something we both really loved, so my ring didn't end up being a
surprise. I told him I'd happily take a fake diamond.. I probably wouldn't even know the difference, but since he wanted to get me an actual ring, we
ended up picking one together. Might not be as romantic as him surprising me, but I'm happy with it.

I wear my engagement ring as my wedding ring. I only like diamonds as accents, not the main stone. It was dirt cheap compared to some of the rings people get.
I would have been pissed if he had wasted tons of money on a stupid piece of jewelry. We used that money for something much better, a house.

I know a lot of couples that think the engagement ring is SO important and SUCH a big deal- and that to me is ridiculous. One girl I know that got engaged to
her boyfriend actually hated her ring because the diamond was "too small". Needless to say, they never got married.
I don't think a ring is important, or necessary. I don't need jewelry to prove to strangers that I am married. However when I am at the grocery store with my kids I have had a few obvious glances at my ring finger to see if I am married. So stupid. We would rather spend that money on vacations and buying a house. Maybe one day down the road I might wear a ring, but for now I really don't need one. |

The second and fourth ones apply to me. Big diamonds are tacky, and the marriage is what matters.

based on the ring he bought me for christmas that I had no idea I was getting... I fully trust him to pick out the engagement ring when it happens.

I never understood the point or need for an engagement ring. The money that was put into that ring could have been saved for something else like the wedding
ring or the wedding. I just have never given a shit about jewelry.

A ring is a symbol. It doesn't have to be elaborate or expensive. It is merely a sign that you are engaged.
My view on engagement rings is the same as my view on wedding rings. I will wear whatever is placed on my finger. I wouldn't care if it came from Wal Mart. It's the occasion, not the ring. |

i picked #2 - he should know me well enough to get one of my girlfriends to lead him in the right direction. i understand the symbolism of the ring but i'm
really hard to buy for.

I picked 2. As cheesy as it sounds, for me finding someone who loves me enough to spend his life with me is all that I really care about. Most of my friends
don't even wear their rings now.
