Do we work for the same person? My boss WIGS OUT about people saying, "Happy Holidays," instead of "Merry Christmas." Seriously, she loses
it.

i'm surprised the boss doesn't proof read newsletters sent out on his/her and the company's behalf.

OMG thank god somebody can relate.
I would much rather say Happy Holidays or Season's Greetings instead of referring to a holiday that not everybody celebrates. |

I feel like people who don't celebrate Christmas are WAY more understanding when people DO say "Merry Christmas" than the people who celebrate
Christmas are of the people who say "Happy Holidays." Wow that was a long sentence.

I get what you mean Dana!
Do you think then that it's better to say Merry Christmas (and piss fewer people off, possibly)? |

Unfortunately I think so!
I was pretending like yesterday was a normal day so I was telling everyone "have a good day!" and they were all "Merry CHRISTMAS!" back to me. So apparently that was a bad idea as well. |

LMAO. "MERRY CHRISTMAS, YOU HEATHEN."
When I worked at Target in high school I never said anything about Christmas unless they were buying stuff that you could only use at Christmas. Like wrapping paper with Santa on it. Like, I could understand in Mango's case where at work people keep forgetting what religion you are, and it's probably kind of funny right now. But after a lifetime of people getting all hyped up for a party you don't get to go to, isn't it the LAST thing you need for a company to assume that you participate in the same activities as everybody else? I need to find that post where the Jewish JJBers were talking about how they reacted to hearing "Merry Christmas." |

it's a little bit ridiculous to tiptoe with words around a day that is 'recognized,' if not celebrated, by nearly an entire world.
use whatever words you want, use no words at all, everyone knows what's being alluded. lol |

Edit: I mean, I don't like when people wish me a merry christmas, but I don't care about hearing the words, in general. |

I say Merry Christmas but I wouldn't have a hissy fit if the company newsletter said Happy Holidays. It's not the time of year to fight over this.

I had people yesterday look at my Jewish star (which I've had around my neck 24/7 for 8+ years now) and go "Oh, you're Jewish? Happy Hanukkah and
Merry Christmas."
D'oh. |
