My mind is thisclose to being made up. Tell me my job just makes me miserable and it won't mean anything a year from now, make me quit.

Do it. You'll be happier.

I know everyone needs to make money and jobs are hard to come by these days. But NO job is worth being as miserable as you are with it. There are plenty of better opportunities out there for you.

I know I will. And I'll go to school and find what I really want to do, and not commute 1.5 hours in the morning sometimes, and not dread going into work. I just hate that if I leave now, I've basically failed at my job, given them a false representation of who I am and how I work, and that my boss will probably just roll her eyes.

Can you transfer back to where you worked previously? Sorry if I missed something (an episode).

Your boss is a miserable person and will roll her eyes at you regardless. It doesn't sound like she has a very high opinion of you right now anyway. You can fuck her over for being such a cunt but quitting. It's not like you were going to make Hot Topic a career so what's the big deal?

I did at one point want to move up, but now I don't care. I don't know if I can't handle management, can't handle her, or a mixture, but I don't want it anymore. She went to my old boss and asked how she should train me so that I don't feel attacked. Old boss told me she almost said "do your job."
But really.. I'm over it. I know I have my dad to fall back on and he repeatedly tells me not to worry and that if I quit it'll be fine, but he already has my medical bills to deal with because I can't afford it. I hate having to depend on him and I don't like not having a job. But more than that I just hate my job. I don't want to dick over my coworkers but honestly, they already know I want out so it wouldn't be too much of a surprise. |

i personally believe you never quit a job until you have another one. if this one is making you miserable devote as much time to finding a new one then leave. only because personally i would drive myself nuts if i didnt have one. i also dont know your backstory so maybe this doesnt apply.

You can't please everyone, but you can do what is best to please yourself, and in the long run you'll be better and happier.

Celebtrashwhore - I can't transfer anywherew because there's no position. Unless I demote myself, but that wouldn't be worth it. Then id just be stuck there again, but its what my old boss suggested.. to demote myself then work my way back up. Do not want.

You obviously have management experience from this job. Could you apply to another store, that isn't Hot Topic, for a similar position?

Probably. I don't want her to give a bad reference though and I'm sure she would. Or she might anyway.
