I just started it (pushed Water for Elephants to the side
 ) and
the writing style is interesting. I think it's directed more towards young adults so I'm hoping to get through it rather quickly, but I was wondering
if anyone else has read the book.

So a little over a month later, I finished the book.
 I choked up towards the end, but it was expected. I absolutely loved the narration and that
Liesel's life adventures 'ended' once Death found her book. Though it was sad to read/picture what happened to Himmel Street, it was good to see
that Max came back and that Isla came for Liesel.

I'm reading it now and am enjoying it.
However, I am finding some of his writing to be a bit...gimmicky. I'm having trouble losing myself in the story because I find my mind trying to anticipate what kind of stylish tricks he's going to use next. Sometimes I feel like he's trying to write like Kurt Vonnegut. So I do like the story and I'm glad I'm reading the book, but that's my one kind of nitpicky problem with it. (And I love the way Vonnegut writes. I just don't think Zusak *quite* masters what he's trying to do.) |

I haven't read this book yet but I LOVED his book I Am the Messenger. It's probably my favorite book. The plot line is remarkable especially for a teen
read.
