Oh, horrors! Students might actually have to work more in school instead of being lazy for three months

I already go to school year round, but that's only because I take summer courses. And I have to say, it's not that bad. It only sucks sometimes when I
get invited to the beach during the summer and I can't go.

America also has the least amount of vacation time for workers in the industrialized world. Let kids have their summer vacations because they wont rest again
until theyre in the ground. I think it evens out.

The whole idea of a summer vacation was to help put the crops in. Anyone still working a farm should have one, lol. Anyone not--they should be in school.

I don't know about shorter vacations, but longer school days would benefit the kids. There is a reason why the Universities in the States have mandatory
classes and don't allow you to chose a major before 2nd year.

Summer vacations are too long, anyway. I say go to a year-round schedule and spread out those breaks...kids won't even notice if they have a net loss of a
week or two.

Jaycie Fierce wrote:Exactly. They could go year round, then have 2 week breaks every quarter. It would be so much more efficient, especially for those kids that don't seem to hold onto what they've learned over the summer. |

If I were IN school still, I'd be pissed. But now that I'm a grownup, I definitely am for this. We need to do something to close the
educational gap here, don't we??
