She'd never heard of such a pie, and it was
different then the rest. So she gave me an A plus a star.
It was only the second pie I had ever made in my life.

Well this was my last year to do 4-H so my division I had to bake a pie. Well I ended up making a Carmel Apple Crunch Pie and the judge kept saying it was
amazing.

I'm totally serious but that is my FAVOURITE pie!! And it's not easy to find a good one! You can buy them at this excellent place here in a town
called Colborne at a place called The Big Apple. http://www.visitcramahe.ca/cramahe/tourism/apple.asp I bought 2 different types of pie when I was
there and one was the caramel apple crumble and it was so good. Not too sweet. Another good place that makes a regular caramel apple pie is M&M Meats!

Crust:
1 1/2 Cups All Purse Flour Sifted 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup Shortening 4 to 5 tablespoons water Sift flour and salt together; cut in shortening with pastry blender till pieces are the size of small peas. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon water over part of mixture, gently toss with fork. Push to side of bowl, repeat till all is moistened. Form into a ball, and flatten on lightly floured surface. Roll from center to edge til 1/8 inch thick Filling 4 cups Peeled and sliced apples 2 tablespoons water 28 vanilla caramels 1/4 cup flour 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts Preheat oven to 375 degrees Heat Caramels and water in top of double boiler, stirring until smooth (you can do it in the microwave). Layer 1/2 the apples and caramel sauce, repeat. Combine flour, sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Add walnuts and sprinkle on top of pie. Bake 50-60 minutes until apples are tender And you don't have to use walnuts if you don't want. |

Here's the one from M&M Meats that I buy frozen and it's pretty damn good for a frozen pie also. And you actually are cooking it, not just heating
it up so the pastry ends up nice and flakey
