next day? This guy I work with supposedly got into a car accident and cracked several ribs, but he's been emailing all day and I think maybe my boss is
just dumb and something got misunderstood. He was in the accident late last night and has been emailing long, coherent emails since early this morning. I would
have thought he'd be on too much pain medication to do that.
And wouldn't you have other significant injuries if the accident was bad enough to crack ribs?! |

Probably depends on how bad they are cracked, how many are cracked, where they are cracked, and how high his pain tolerance is.
It's not impossible. |

He's a huge whiner so my instinct is to think that his pain tolerance is very low.

It can happen. Are they just bruised or actually cracked? How many. I think you can crack a rib and be fine if you don't cough or move a certain way, but
IDK.

The question is, how does this affect you?

idk, my boss said cracked.
Who said it affects me? Am I not allowed to ask questions about things that do not affect me? |

I know someone who had a cracked sternum/breastbone and didn't get it diagnosed for a couple weeks. Went to work and everything like that.

I cracked my ribs and I cried lots.
But then again, I was five, and it had knocked the wind out of me. |

Good to know. Well, I hope he's ok otherwise. My boss sucks at relaying info.

I can see someone cracking ribs being coherent and even functional. My mom cracked several ribs in a major car accident and was fine for 2-3 days. Then the
real bruising set in and that wasn't even her ribs, but just her entire body.

The replies got out of order. Mine was supposed to be after Mistress Darcy's response. Instead it got mixed up and I look sarcastic.

A friend cracked his sternum when I almost killed us in a car accident and never got it treated. It was 8 years ago, and we don't talk anymore, but up
until like 3 years ago, it still popped whenever he stretched.

My aunt cracked two ribs last Friday and tried to work for a few days, then finally when to the er.
The doctor said it was pretty bad and was surprised she lasted that long. Now she's drugged and on bed rest, but working anyway. |
